I hope someday I'll be illustrating some Magic cards. It's one of my little dreams. :)

This work was painted in Photoshop, and sketched with painter. Around 5-6 hours overall.

The way you colored this is very interesting; you did a good job on the highlights and shadows and I like the color overall. I really like the way you did the background; I've always found forest backgrounds hard to draw. I don't like to completely fill it in with trees, but block colors look weird and blurring the colors together often doesn't look good.

My only suggestion would be to incorporate more of the forest into the creature per se. (I don't think I worded that very well <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="19" height="19" alt="^^;" title="Sweating a little..." /> ) What I mean is maybe give it a barklike texture for the skin (?), maybe a few twigs or leaves coming off it or something to that effect.
